I'm here today to review a glitter-removing product. If you are like me, you LOVE glitter and try to incorporate it into all of your manicures (when in doubt, just throw some Fairy Dust on top, eh?). Well, that's well and all, but when it comes to removing it?
What.
A.
Nightmare.
I use the foil method. For those who aren't familiar, it's essentially where you soak a cotton ball in acetone, place it on your nail, and wrap it up in foil. Then, you wait about 5 minutes. It's a pain, cutting out all the strips of foil, trying to wrap your entire hand because who has time to do both hands separately? The struggle...
So, I found out about No-Rub and just HAD to grab it. Walmart carries it for the low, low price of $3.88. That is a great price for this little product. These were my results.
First things first. This stuff smells SO strong. I definitely recommend using this stuff in a well-ventilated area.
I stuck my nails into it, one at a time, as the instructions told me.
This stuff feels pretty gross. After it was on all of the nails on my left hand, I turned my timer on for 4 minutes, as suggested on the label.
After the 4 minutes completed, I used a paper towel and wiped off the gooey nastiness off of my thumb. I didn't rub (like the product calls itself!), and this was the result. I was super disappointed. I watched a video on YouTube by CutePolish and hers just came clean off! This barely did anything.
On my index finger, I tried rubbing the paper towel. This worked much better, but it still left all of the hex glitter. Frustrating at best for me, as the foil method typically only leaves a few glitter pieces when all is said and done.
So, this was the final result after removing the goop from all of my nails. I washed my hands (the final step on the label's instructions) and was super turned away from the product's potential by the nasty, slimy residue left on my skin. Paper towel remnants were still sticking to my skin and I just wanted to scrub my hands some more.
So, I decided to do one more round of this stuff to try and get off the remaining glitters. I repeated the process the same, and it took the rest of the glitter off. It left that nasty residue still, and I washed my hands multiple times to no avail. The whole process took an upwards of 15 minutes.
For my right hand, I decided to do the foil method and compare the times. It took me 3 minutes and 27 seconds to cut 5 strips of foil (though I'd deduct at LEAST 20 seconds because my fingers kept sticking to the foil thanks to that goop slime), 3 minutes to wrap, and 5 minutes of waiting. Removing and cleaning off any stray glitters took about 4 minutes.
So, all in all the processes take about the same amount of time. The downside to the foil method is just cutting all of the strips out. The downside to the No-Rub is (contrary to it's name) the rubbing to try and and get off the leftover glitters, the awful smell, and the gross residue left behind.
Unfortunately, No-Rub did not meet the expectations I had after seeing the YouTube advertisement video. I would rate this product about a 4.5/10. If you don't have/like the foil method or you just don't mind the goopy feeling, then this might be the product for you.
